2020 APTA Minority Scholarship Award Recipients

Mercedes shares her personal story.
As a student who was always balancing too much on her plate and still wanting to add more, being selected as a recipient of this award made everything worthwhile. I first learned about the career of physical therapy from a Rutgers student when I was a senior in high school during my AP Biology class. Coming back to that classroom five years later, educating students about my career choice and how it has impacted my life was a full-circle moment. Educating the future of our country, the next generation, is so important and having the chance to pay it forward was one of the best moments in my physical therapy school career.
