Susan Whitney, PT, PhD, FAPTA, delivered the 27th John H. P. Maley Lecture, titled "Exercise Is Our Medicine," on August 14, 2022, at the Omni Shoreham in Washington, DC.

About the Lecturer

Susan Whitney, PT, PhD, FAPTA, is a professor of physical therapy for the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences in the Department of Otolaryngology and the Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences, at the University of Pittsburgh. She also is the program co-director for the university's master of science program in physical therapy. In her career she has published 180 peer-reviewed papers, has co-authored a book about vestibular disorders, and has published over 30 book chapters. She most recently was recognized by the Barany Society, an international multidisciplinary group, with the Hallpike-Nylen award, which recognizes outstanding clinical research achievement in vestibular medicine. She is the first nonphysician and the second woman to receive the award.
