Growing up, I participated in both cross country and gymnastics, two sports that emphasize a lean body image and associate that image with enhanced performance. When pursuing these sports, I and a handful of teammates believed this association to be true. At the time, I was unaware that pursuing a thin body image came with health risks. Now, as a DPT student, I am thankful to have gained this knowledge along with the opportunity to educate others.
