Acute Kidney Injury

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a syndrome representing loss of kidney function that can occur over a short time period spanning from hours to days. Formerly known as acute renal failure, AKI is the currently accepted terminology because it better encompasses the significance of small changes in kidney function to clinical outcomes.
