Appraisal ratings for clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) posted are generated by 2 or more physical therapists trained in using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation II (AGREE II).

AGREE II is a standardized, internationally recognized tool for appraising CPGs.(1) Raters appraise CPG quality in 6 domains:

  • Scope and purpose
  • Stakeholder involvement
  • Rigor of development
  • Clarity of presentation
  • Applicability
  • Editorial independence

AGREE II has 23 questions used by raters to give the CPG an overall quality score between 1 and 7. The rating in CPG+ is the raters' average overall quality rating. Details of the AGREE II appraisal for a given CPG can be obtained by contacting Practice@apta.org. For more information about the AGREE II tool, visit www.agreetrust.org.
