Overview

This review from the French Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery recommends physical therapy for children with vestibular dysfunction impacting function and dizziness symptoms after head trauma. Vestibular assessment, including testing of the vestibulo-ocular reflex, otolithic function, and postural control is recommended prior to vestibular rehabilitation. Children with bilateral vestibular impairment should be treated using adaptation and substitution exercises to treat gaze instability. Optokinetic and virtual reality are not recommended in children and young adolescents.
