Activities-specific Balance Confidence (ABC) Scale for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
Summary
What it measures:
Confidence in performing various ambulatory activities without falling
Target Population:
People with traumatic brain injury (TBI)
Comments:
16-item self-report measure in which patients rate their balance confidence in performing several activities, using a rating scale of 0–100 (0= no confidence, 100=complete confidence)
Overall score calculated by adding item scores and then dividing by the total number of items.
Professional Association Recommendations:
TBI EDGE:
Appears reasonable to use, but limited study in target group; the outcome measure has good or excellent psychometric properties and clinical utility in a related population, but insufficient study in target population to support higher recommendation.
