On July 23, 2022, the World Health Organization Director-General declared the escalating global mpox outbreak a public health emergency of international concern. As of September 2022, there have been no reported cases of patient or client transmission of mpox to physical therapists. However, as with any infectious disease, due to the hands-on nature of physical therapist practice, it is important to review and follow precautions to decrease the risk of disease transmission.
